NHL star Jeff Skinner said What Chaos! podcast about his awkward encounter with singer Taylor Swift.
Skinner met Swift in 2013 while attending her concert. A joint photo was taken of the two, where the singer poses with the puck player’s jersey in his hands.
There is a comical story behind the picture. Skinner planned to give the jersey to Swift as a gift, and had even autographed it.
However, Swift understood the roles of the encounter in a completely different way. As a bigger celebrity, he hardly cared that he was talking to an NHL player. At the time the photo was taken, Skinner, who was in his twenties, had played in the NHL for three seasons.
– Taylor looked at the shirt and looked surprised. Then he asked if I wanted him to write his number on the shirt. I said I already did that for you myself, Skinner joked on the podcast.
– Should have said “yes, just write and I’ll take it back”.
After the group photo was taken, the NHL forward didn’t stay to fight anymore.
– I gave him the shirt and left. He must have trashed it or fired the guy who let me see him.
In 2013, Swift had already won several Grammy awards and recorded albums that rose to number one on the charts.
