He Israeli Cooking Festival will present an exquisite gastronomic offer typical of the country of Middle East. The event will take place on Sunday May 14 at Av. Iraola and Av. Presidente Montt, near the rose garden, in the Palermo neighborhood, between 12 and 6 pm, with free admission. The culinary meeting will take place within the framework of the celebration “Buenos Aires Celebrates Israel”.
With its recently released 75 years of independence, Israel today has become a pioneer nation in vegan nutrition and in the Food Tech industry that develops at an accelerated speed the preparation of meat and fish based on purely vegetable ingredients. But it is not the only existing modality in the country of King David.
Obviously, the universe of Israeli street cuisine is wide and varied and compares both meaty, vegetarian and vegan options alike, with great emphasis on the variety of pickled vegetables accompanying each of the different options. A typical food from Israeli street stalls is burekas, similar to an empanada with puff pastry dough and with various fillings.
When it comes to the main dishes, beyond the typical falafel (chickpea croquettes) or the versions of chicken or lamb shawarma, slightly lesser-known options are added in these parts. Among them the sabija version of a fried eggplant sandwich with egg, hummus and the typical salads and vegetables with which sandwiches are served in Israel.
Another curious option that borders on Argentine customs, but that presents a new version with the addition of other ingredients, is the popular israeli shnitzel, which is nothing more than a “pita” bread sandwich of chicken milanese with French fries inside it and with the addition of typical salads, tehina and some spicy. Another version is the sandwich that incorporates chicken livers as the main protein to star in a freshly baked bread and crowned with the universe of salads and vegetables that usually serve as multicolored filling.
The event will also expose a number of environmental and cultural institutions that account for the life of the Hebrew country, together with a gastronomic offer with an emphasis on street food. There will also be live music and dance shows that will address both pieces from the traditional songbook to the most modern rhythms of the cultural scene, maintaining the festive spirit that honors the celebration of 75 years of independence as the common thread.
Also, as usually happens in this type of celebration, the public can be part of the typical round dances that will be directed by specialist instructors in this art. Presentations by the Israeli DJ will be added to the proposal Ramzy al Spinozaactivities for the little ones, raffles and live cooking classes by renowned chefs from the mass media and social networks.
