A day full of fun in Bellewaerde

A day full of fun in Bellewaerde

Since 1954 Bellewaerde has grown into an amusement park where young and old can enjoy rollercoasters, exotic animals and impressive shows. On Friday 15 July I went to the park close to Ypres to experience it for myself. The weather was good and the park was nicely filled, everything you need for a wonderful holiday.

What distinguishes Bellewaerde from other amusement parks is the combination of amusement park and zoo. After a ride on the rollercoaster Boomerang, you can happen to pass by the giraffes or you can go for a walk among the ring-tailed lemurs. There are a few attractions of their own such as Jungle Mission and the Bengal Express that combine both. Get comfortable in a jungle boat and sail past flamingos, maras, parrots, capybaras and red coatis. Or ride a train through the lion and tiger enclosure. You will never have felt so close to the animals.

There is also a whole range of activities for the daredevils. You have the Dawson Duel: an alpine coaster with which you race each other down from a height of 25 meters, or the Wakala, a rollercoaster that gives you butterflies in your stomach. On hot days, where refreshment is desperately needed, you can visit Bellewaerde park for various water attractions such as the Bengal Rapid River, the River Splash and Niagara, but you can also choose to spend the day in Bellewaerde aqua park.

Are you more for the peace? Or are the children still too small? That’s no problem either, because Bellewaerde provides a large number of kid-proof attractions and playgrounds, so that both you and the children can enjoy a beautiful day in Bellewaerde park.

You can now also enjoy a new show, in the amphitheater in the park. The stunt and dive show Bengali tells the story of an evil magician who curses everyone and some heroes who can give up the curse by overcoming the elements. The shows are very impressive to say the least and therefore definitely worth checking out.

This summer Bellewaerde is open on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., on Tuesdays and Thursdays you can spend an extra hour in the park. On Saturdays, the park is open until 10 pm and you can enjoy a fire show at the end of the day.
