a DANA puts these communities on alert

This week in Spain is being an example of what should be usual in autumn: changing weather. A “dance of little DANAs”, as defined by Meteored, caused by the anticlonic wedge in the north of the European continent puts several Mediterranean communities on alert as of Thursday. The movement began on Wednesday, with the passage of a front that brought rains, especially significant on the Catalan coast. Barcelona, for example, has recorded rainfall that has not occurred for more than two months. After passing this front, it is the turn of a DANA. The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) expects this Thursday and this Friday that DANA will bring “significant” rain to Mediterranean communities.

High pressures will strengthen in central and northern Europe, which will lead very humid air from the east to the Mediterranean coasts. Heavy downpours are expected in the southeast of the Spanish coast, the Gulf of Valencia and the Balearic Islands. In Catalonia, the Generalitat has warned of the risk of heavy rains starting Friday morning in the southern counties.
