A cyber attack has shut down the network connections of Keski-Uusimaa Vocational College Keuda. The attack was detected on Monday morning at eight o’clock, when Keuda’s IT administration shut down the school’s servers and network connections to be safe.
– This morning shortly before eight, the IT administration noticed a bit of strange traffic on the server, says the operational manager Timo Hakkarainen.
Because the servers and network connections had to be shut down as a precaution, some of the studies have been interrupted or at least made more difficult.
Hakkarainen estimates that studies can be continued normally in some fields.
– This has no effect on learning manual skills. But, for example, data scientists who study information and communication technology may not be able to study when the networks are down, says Hakkarainen.
The aim is now to adjust the order of the studies as much as possible, so that if the study program includes any study that takes place outside the network, it will be completed now.
So far, it is not known how extensive the problem is, let alone how long it will take to fix it.
