Turkish Football Federation (TFF) declared both teams defeated by forfeit after Göztepe-Altay match in Spor Toto 1st League, which was suspended due to terror in the stands on Sunday night, 27 November. The federation management discussed the aborted match at TFF’s headquarters in Istanbul Riva. After the match at Gürsel Aksel Stadium, where the mutual violence of the fans was marked, it was decided to declare both teams defeated by forfeit. PFDK will decide whether the points of the two teams will be reduced or not.

During the tension between the two team supporters, while Çakır was being transported to the ambulance, a corner post flag was removed by a Göztepe supporter entering the field by Altay goalkeeper Ozan Evrim Özenç. The match, in which he hit his head many times and was hospitalized, was then suspended by Referee Emre Kargın, who went to the locker room with the players.

After the match, which was on the agenda with the horrors experienced in Turkey as well as around the world, 19 Altay fans and 20 people, including those who jumped on the field from Göztepe and injured goalkeeper Ozan, were arrested on charges of deliberately attempting to kill. While action was taken against the hooligans within the scope of the Law No. 6222 on the Prevention of Violence and Disorder in Sports, after the Izmir derby, the Professional Football Disciplinary Committee sentenced Altay to play 6 matches and Göztepe 4 matches to play without spectators.
