Lauri Markkanen published a nice message.
Lauri Markkanen was chosen as Athlete of the Year on Thursday. The recipient of the award was chosen by the Association of Sports Journalists.
The Utah Jazz star posted a picture of the Uno award and a concise video clip in the stories of his Instagram account.
– It’s about damn time, basketball superstar LeBron James says in the clip published by Markkanen.
Last year, Markkanen finished fourth in the Athlete of the Year voting, which caused a heated debate.
Now the award did not go unnoticed. The Finn sparkled last year in the Utah Jazz, was selected for the NBA All-Star Game and bagged the NBA’s most improved player award.
Markkanen is the first basketball player to be selected as Finland’s Athlete of the Year.
It is not known whether Markkanen’s social media update was referring to last year or the basketball players’ breakthrough in the Athlete of the Year selections.
