Japanese vehicle manufacturer toyota engine suspended operations at its fourteen plants in the Asian country on Tuesday due to a failure in the computer system and without anticipation of when he will be able to resume them.
“This is a system failure that prevent parts orders. We do not know when it will be able to recover, but we are trying to resume operations,” a company spokesperson told EFE, noting that, in principle, it is not a cyber attack.
The Aichi-based firm (central Japan) initially announced today the suspension of its operations at 12 of its plants, to which 2 more facilities were added. In this way, all of its 28 production lines distributed in 14 domestic factories were paralyzed. The automotive group continues to investigate the causes of the incident and at the moment does not know when it will be able to resume work at its plants.
The shares of Toyota Motor, which opened positively this Tuesday on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, reached the half-session break with a decrease of 0.38% after the news was released.

Today’s suspension comes after last March the company had to stop production in all its domestic factories as a result of a cyberattack on one of your suppliers which affected their ordering platform. That incident also led Toyota to suspend all operations at its 14 production plants, including those of its Hino and Daihatsu brands, which meant a drop in expected production of 13,000 units, around 5% of its monthly volume. .
