A criminal case was opened against Pavel Latushko, a member of the coordinating council of the Belarusian opposition, for taking a bribe in the amount of $10,000. reported on the website of the State Control Committee of Belarus.

“On the fact of receiving a bribe by the Department of Financial Investigations of the State Control Committee in relation to Latushko P.P. a criminal case has been initiated on the grounds of the corpus delicti provided for by Part 3 of Article 430 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus.

This article provides for imprisonment for a term of five to 15 years with a fine and deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities.

According to the department, one of the leaders of the Belarusian company in the field of film production announced the transfer of a bribe to Latushko. He said that in 2012 he gave a $10,000 bribe to Latushko, who served as Minister of Culture, to get one of the company’s film projects to receive state funding. At the same time, the company was not the winner of the film project competition and could not claim to receive funds from the budget. However, the contract with her was concluded, and the ministry financed her project.
