“A broken man, he is very sorry for this.” Father from Waardamme has been arrested for double infanticide
Chris V probably killed his children on Wednesday night because he threatened to lose them in a divorce. The girls, aged 5 and 8, were found dead on a farm in Sijslostraat on Wednesday evening. The father was soon arrested, he had announced the family drama on Facebook. He reportedly had relationship problems with the girls’ mother for a while, the couple was going to divorce.

After a four-hour interrogation by the investigating judge, the father’s lawyer, Frederiek Wauters, briefly spoke to the press. During the interrogation, the examining magistrate had gone over all the facts of the dramatic evening in minute detail. Chris V cooperated with the interrogation, and according to his lawyer was a broken man.
Frederiek Wauters: My client has just been arrested by the investigating judge. We have not objected to that either. That introduction took a very long time, almost four hours. In terms of content, I can’t say anything about the file. These are facts that are very weighty. My client is very sorry. There was also a broken man in front of us. He naturally accepts his arrest. The facts were completely overseen by the investigating judge. I cannot say much about the content out of respect for the victims and out of respect for the family. In front of me was a broken man, that’s all I can say about that. Of course my client realizes what he has done. He deeply regrets it.
