The security company Check Point Research (CRP) says it has found vulnerabilities in Xiaomi’s Android phones, the company says in its press release.

Exploiting the vulnerability would have allowed hackers to fake mobile payments on Xiaomi’s Wechat Pay mobile payment app and thus steal money.

Wechat Pay is a popular mobile payment service that is used especially in China and has more than 300 million users.

CRP says that it has found a vulnerability in Xiaomi’s operating system, which is responsible for storing passwords, among other things.

According to CRP, Xiaomi has patched the vulnerability that allows counterfeiting of payments in June. However, the company recommends updating the phone to the latest version offered by the manufacturer.

Xiaomi is the world’s third best-selling mobile phone manufacturer and the vulnerability could have affected more than a billion phone users.
