At Signal, you will no longer be forced to reveal your phone number in conversations. The Verge reports that in the beta version of the instant messaging service there is an option to create a user name that can be shared with others during testing.

Despite this, the use of Signal will continue to require entering a phone number into the application’s user data.

Signal says in his blog that the user can also control how he can be found in the application. In the settings, you can choose that knowing the phone number is not enough: then the other user must know your exact username in order to start a conversation with you.

After the beta phase, the features will be available to everyone in the next few weeks.

Didn’t have time to read the deleted Whatsapp message? This is how they dig it up.
