A bag for cashless shopping

Klarna and designer William Fan are launching a bag collaboration to celebrate the designer’s fall winter collection and new online shop. The ‘All-In-One’ bag will be available in its online shop and via the Klarna app during the Berlin Fashion Week fans show, the Swedish payments company announced on Wednesday. The price is 150 euros.

Designed for “stylish, cashless shopping,” the bag comes in a black finish and features a spring-inspired check pattern with lilac and mint accents. The format of the bag is kept compact and has an oversized zipper that makes the shape of the bag flexible and allows maximum use of the interior space. What really catches the eye, however, is the ultra-long handle, with which the accessory can be effortlessly slung over the shoulder or around the waist – a design element intended to make the bag flexible. In addition, Fan has designed a card case and a key fob made of black, vegan leather. Klarna’s corporate design is brought in through the Klarna arc found on the outside wall of the bag and on the card holder.

The design of the bag shows parallels to Klarna’s ‘All-In-One’ approach of the same name, which is implemented in the Klarna shopping app: “Clear and yet all important items in one place: mobile phone, credit card, keys,” says Celine Menzen, Head of Consumer Marketing at Klarna – just like with Klarna’s digital service, which allows users to see all their purchases and related finances at a glance and manage them as easily as possible.

Fan is known for a design signature that combines his Asian roots with a European way of life. The designer founded his label of the same name in 2005, which focuses on an inclusive and holistic design philosophy. In his new online shop, which will go live during the HW fashion show in Berlin, the products will be displayed in a way that “breaks through the binary, learned style”.

Klarna is one of the leading service providers in the online shopping sector. The company was founded in Sweden in 2005. At that time, Klarna set itself the goal of fundamentally changing the buying experience and in particular the payment process for online purchases. With an app and the Klarna card, the company gives its users an overview of online purchases, as well as an advance payment model in which customers only pay for the goods they ultimately want to keep. Today, Klarna has over 90 million customers in 20 markets and works with over 250,000 retailers, including large fashion groups such as H&M, Nike and Acne Studios, but also well-known companies from other sectors such as Spotify and Ikea.
