On May 16, Prince Pi’s new album with the title West Berlin will be released. With “Viktoriapark”, the fourth single release for the plate has now been published. The new song tells of the life of the rapper, of the relationships that he leads to other people, but also of the one to himself. SDP member Dag sings the chorus.
Prince Pi writes music about and from the hometown
According to the title, the rapper devoted the new album to his birthplace, West Berlin. This is also reflected on the cover where you can see the former listening station on the Teufelsberg. In the ME interview, the 45-year-old revealed that he feels like he is in the current time in Berlin as in the period of FRG and GDR. “It was a pretty strange situation that the country was not only shared, but that there was this little enclave West Berlin in the middle of East Germany, which was surrounded by such a wall and which of course was totally different than the surroundings. But which was different than the rest of West Germany,” said the musician in the interview and revealed that he is currently feeling the same troubled feeling as he felt at the time.
The previous singles “Teufelsberg”, “030” and “Without you”, together with the new song, already offer a small foretaste of the album. The LP should tell of crises in the neighborhood, nostalgia and social observation.
