After almost two decades, the cult series “Malcolm in the middle” is now returning to the screens. In the meantime, the cast of the new season has also been determined.
New occupation and well -known faces
The US comedy series “Malcolm in the middle” ran from 200 to 2006. It revolves around the chaotic family of a highly gifted boy named Malcolm. In addition to everyday family life, this also fights with typical teenage problems such as school, friendships and first love. In 2006, however, the show was discontinued after seven seasons. The reason for this was probably bad ratings. With a revival, one is now hoping for a small nostalgic upswing.
That could also work, because the new cast is very similar to the original line -up. Except for Erik Per Sullivan, according to “Bild”, all actors are to be returned. Malcolm’s youngest brother Dewey is now to be played by Caleb Ellsworth-Clark. The Canadian is known from “Death in the Forests” and “Nightmare Alley”.
Accordingly, Frankie Muniz slips into the role of Malcolm and Bryan Cranston and Jane Kaczmarek as his parents should also be there again. The other two brothers are still played by Christopher Masterson and Justin Berfield. The creator of the original series, Linwood Boomer and director Ken Kwapis should again take care of the right gags at the right time.
Four new episodes are planned
There is still no specific date for the comeback. The four -part mini series is to be published exclusively at Disney+. This time the family chaos is to be represented by Malcolm and his daughter.
Disney+ already announced the continuation with clips of the series hero in 2024. “I’ve been waiting for this moment for 18 years,” said Muniz in it. “Let’s find out where Malcolm and his family are now,” continued the 39-year-old. Cranston, who became a superstar with “Breaking Bad” in 2012, joked: “I am so excited that I might have peed. Just a little bit.” And Jane Kaczmarek was looking forward to her recognition feature, which we should all still have in the ear: “What a joy that I can shout this child again!”
