Bavaria’s board boss Jan-Christian Dreesen calls out the club World Cup title as the goal when presenting the trophy. At T-Online, he also clearly comments on the future of Leon Goretzka in Munich.

Actually, the title collection of FC Bayern was already complete. This summer there is now a new trophy at the new club World Cup in the USA. It is clear that the record champion, which will soon find a place in the showcases of the club museum, should also find a place.

Jan-Christian Dreesen already had the new object of desire in Munich on Monday afternoon. With the twin towers of the Frauenkirche as a picturesque backdrop in the background, he posed on the roof terrace of the Penthouses of the Do & Co Hotel connected to FC Bayern World.

However, the motto was true for FC Bayern’s board boss: just seeing, not touching. The privilege of touching the trophy of the club World Cup, which was presented at an appointment in Munich city center as part of the Trophy Tour, is currently only reserved for the heads of state and government and FIFA President Gianni Infantino. US President Donald Trump, for example, who will be the organizer of the new XXL tournament in June with the USA, recently put on hand.

Dreesen still wants to and must earn the right to contact as a possible first winner of the first edition of the club World Cup in the new format with FC Bayern. On the edge of the appointment, the 57-year-old took time to talk to T-Online, among other things, about how this should succeed and what challenges are still waiting on the way there.

T-online: Mr. Dreesen, you have just unveiled the trophy of the club World Cup. What does the tournament for FC Bayern mean?

Jan-Christian Dreesen: It is a new format, the old one was pretty predictable, and we look forward to participating in this first edition. We are gone for the first time for the first time, this is new for ourselves, but we have the opportunity to play a tournament that has never existed. I can assure you: we are all highly motivated, the players are hot, we don’t just want to participate, we want to win.

How did you follow the quarter -finals of the German national team in the Nations League against Italy? Leon Goretzka, who celebrated his comeback in the national team, was the match winner at 2-1 in Milan. With Joshua Kimmich, another Bayern professional also played a very formative role in the 3: 3 in the second leg.

First of all, I was very happy for both, of course, especially for Leon. Of course that is a very special story. He did it extremely well. The biggest compliment for him was certainly that the national coach brought him back into the national team. I think he has definitely met the expectations.

You address the difficult season for Goretzka. In summer it was actually said that he should leave the club. Does he have a future at FC Bayern again?

This is the responsibility of Max Eberl and Christoph Freund (sports director and sports director; Note d. Red.) that have the conversations. Leon still has a contract until 2026. In the past few weeks and months, other topics have been clarified. Christoph and Max did that excellently.
