Price Comparison Service The Price Guide explored the average price variation in 28 different product categories in 2024 to find out when to make some purchases. It turned out that there is a lot of variation between different product categories.
March was not the cheapest month last year for any compared product category, and in April the prices were at their highest. In December, on the other hand, prices were fifteen percent lower than the average year average.
Country Manager of the Price Guide Liisa Matinvesi-Bassett says in the release that the seasonal variations in prices are largely due to demand, seasonal and new models publications.
“For example, the prices of mobile phones already on the market will drop in August, when new models are released, and home appliances are at their lowest in the end of the year with Black Friday and other discount campaigns,” he says.
It is therefore justified to look at the product category by product category. For example, mobile phones have been at their lowest in August for two consecutive years, while screens, sports clocks and robotic vacuum cleaners have been at their lowest in recent years.
– The cheapest month of 2025 remains to be seen. However, it is clear that timing properly can save considerable amounts, and the price trends of previous years give you an indication of the best months, says Matinvesi-Bassett.
