Two counter workers at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York were stabbed on Saturday. The suspect, a 60-year-old man whose museum membership card had been revoked due to two previous incidents, is on the run.
The police distributed images of the attack made with a surveillance camera† It can be seen how the man jumps over the counter on Saturday afternoon and attacks the two 24-year-old counter employees with a knife. He stabbed one employee in the neck, the other in the lower back and neck. Both victims are out of danger and are expected to recover. The incident led to chaotic conditions in the museum, also because fleeing visitors shouted that there had been a shooting.
On Sunday, the suspect posted a few confused messages on Facebook. He states that he is in Florida. In Mar-a-Lago, Donald Trump’s winter home in Palm Beach, he would attack the former president, he announced.
The suspect has no criminal record, according to police. The museum closed after the stabbing and will not reopen until Tuesday.
