Bayer Leverkusen has to do without Mario Hermoso in the end of the season. The 29-year-old defender was successfully operated on in Madrid, as the club announced on Tuesday, but will be missing for the rest of the season.
Hermoso had suffered a tendon injury in the chest muscle area in the round of 16 of the Champions League against FC Bayern (0: 2). According to Bayer, Hermoso will complete his rehab in Leverkusen.
The Spaniard came from AS Rome on loan at the beginning of the year. The agreement ends on June 30th. It is unlikely that Hermoso will bear the jersey of the reigning German master again in the future.
The professional trained at Real Madrid completed four Bundesliga games and was on the pitch in both Champions League duels against FC Bayern. He was used in the DFB Cup. He had not succeeded in a goal for Leverkusen.
