The controversial dog breeder Jan Paridaans (69) from Eersel must answer to the judge in Den Bosch on Tuesday. Together with his (now) ex-wife of suspicious animals, he is seriously neglected. The couple kept hundreds of dogs under poor conditions for years, is the reproach of justice. But will it really happen on Tuesday? Because the dog breeder did not show up at lawsuits in the past, after which they were postponed.
From 2016, Paridaans held dogs in their breeding Kwispel and so on on the Grote Aardweg in Eersel. The NVWA regularly held checks at the company. But the case really started rolling when animal welfare organization House of Animals secretly brought out recordings.
Hundreds of animals were held at the location, while no dog breeding was allowed at that location according to the municipality’s zoning plan. House of Animals spoke of ‘miserable conditions’ for the dogs.

Karen Soeters from House of Animals is relieved that the business will finally start on Tuesday. “I look forward to it.
She finds it incomprehensible that Paridan has been able to continue with his dog breeding for so long. House of Animals continued to insist for years and made reports, after which the NVWA eventually seized all 500 animals. It took until March 2024 until the breeding was finally closed.
New legislation helped, because in January 2024 the ‘Determining Animal Abuse and Animal Exhibition Act’ was amended. The NVWA was able to close the company with that law. In July last year, House of Animals discovered that the Fokker also traded in Dieren from Belgium.

According to Soeters, supervisors were waiting for too long in the years before, while Paridan continued to violate the law. “The NVWA has always focused on improving the situation: make sure they get the right care and then we will come back to check in so many months.
According to Soeters, Paridaans has a hand to stretch things as long as possible. He did not show up at lawsuits before and went on appeal in various cases. He also went to the Council of State and refused to pay penalty payments from the municipality of Eersel. Also at the last session in December, Paridan shone due to absence and the substantive treatment did not take place.
Soeters: “I think it will appeal to the bitter end and I think the case will really be dealt with on Tuesday.
“There is no request for postponement.”
“My client will not request a postponement,” says Siemen van der Eijk, lawyer of Jan Paridaans. The lawyer expects that the former partner of Paridaans, Stephanie Dul, will also be present on Tuesday.
Both suspects now have their own lawyer. Van der Eijk is in any case ready. In terms of content, he can’t say much about it, but he knows that Paridan will make an explanation.
A spokesperson for Justice says that she too assumes that the session will take place on Tuesday.
