After progressing in the premier class, BVB collected a damper in the league. Against Leipzig, too little came.

Borussia Dortmund has further enlarged the distance to the Champions League ranks. After the defeat against FC Augsburg (0: 1) a week ago, BVB was also unable to score points in the top game of the Bundesliga against RB Leipzig in the top game of the Bundesliga. The “black yellow” are now in eleventh place in the table (35 points), Leipzig jumps to fifth place (42) and is now tied with Frankfurt on Champions League-Platz Four.

The gap to the European Cup places for BVB is therefore seven points – with eight remaining games and a demanding remaining program, a difficult mortgage. Xavi Simons put the Saxons in the lead after only 17 minutes. Team colleague Loïs Openda increased only shortly after the restart (48th minute).

In a lively initial phase, both teams chose a controlled but offensive approach. Leipzig quickly gained an advantage over the left side of David Raum. The national player had too much freedom and was successfully sent to the last third again and again over long passes. There was great danger for the goal of BVB keeper Gregor Kobel.

After a sharp cross, Openda (14th) initially failed from a short distance on the crossbar. Shortly afterwards, Xavi Simons sent left -back space. After its end, the ball landed in front of the feet of the Dutch playmaker, who took the lead. Leipzig was also clearly superior afterwards-and again in the aluminum pech: Ridle Baku (35th) circled the ball from a distance to the crossbar.

The low gap to the break was flattering and promptly dropped out after the restart. Openda came freely after a corner on the long post.

Dortmund showed the necessary reaction, now had its strongest phase and, like the suddenly unsettled Leipziger in the bad luck: Maximilian Beier (50th, 52nd) and Adeyemi (64.), the aluminum met. Guirassy (62nd) also failed free -standing on Péter Gulácsi, who was also distinguished. Pascal Groß shot over the gate from an outstanding position.
