Right next to an apartment building in the Johannes Vermeerstraat in Coevorden, a sofa went up in flames on Sunday evening.
The fire service was able to prevent the fire from spreading to the building. The smoke went into the houses to such an extent that smoke detectors went off.
Shocked local residents suspect that it was arson. The police are investigating this.
