Borussia Dortmund is in crisis. TV expert Dietmar Hamann analyzed the situation again-and sharply criticized the BVB.
Most recently, Dortmund’s sports director Sebastian Kehl for the first time indicated that he had to change in summer. After the defeat against Augsburg, he emphasized on Saturday (0: 1): “Of course we have to worry.” Now TV expert Dietmar Hamann also advises BVB for this step.
The 51-year-old said at “Sky90” on Sunday evening: “You have many players who have been there for a long time. It doesn’t matter whether this is the quality, the attitude, mentality, bad luck-that no longer matter. Then you just have to do a cut and you have to say: So, for whatever reason.”
Hamann also followed: “In total, you just have to say that they have too few players you can rely on. Of course this is poison for the team.” Dortmund has already received ten defeats in the Bundesliga this season. There were also three bankruptcies in the last six league apartments. BVB is in tenth place in the table. Trainer Niko Kovač also seemed a bit at a loss.
Despite the sporting crisis, Hamann continues to believe in a Champions League qualification of the Dortmund. “I think they will be in the top four,” said Hamann. The gap to fourth place is currently seven points. According to Hamann, a possible departure in the round of 16 of the Champions League against OSC Lille could even be positive for the Dortmund catch-up in the Bundesliga.
