The scent of cinnamon, warm apples and freshly baked dough today filled the village house of Norg. The entire village is baking for the event Bakt Bakt. No fewer than 31 fellow villagers battle to bake the tastiest apple pie in the village. The one with a surprising twist and the other with grandma’s recipe. And the jury? He had a tough but tasty task.

Each bakery gave his own twist to the apple pie. For example, Feline used bastognic cookies as a bottom and added Linda a touch of Salted Caramel. Then there was the three Loek, Guido and Fabian, who mainly went on their feelings: “He just seemed super tasty, so we thought: this will probably be a good recipe!”

Tasting 31 cakes sounds like a dream, but for the jury it was a serious challenge. Halbe Hageman, teacher in daily life, but today a professional cake taster, had a strategy. “By taking small snacks and occasionally drinking a glass of water and consulting with colleagues, it will be fine.”

Wieb also knew exactly what to look out for. “This cake is well creamy. The top looks good, and that makes it a good cake for me.”

But eating so much cake also has its disadvantages. Wouter Asmus, organizer of Heel Norg Bakt, had prepared well for that. “I bought stomach tablets of course!”

After many tests, weighing and weighing, the jury is out. The winner? Apple pie filled with rhubarb, and of course the main ingredient: apples. “The numbers don’t lie, it won the main prize, with an 8.3 as a final grade.”

The baker of the rhubarb apple pie ran away with 100 euros in shopping money at the supermarket. And just to be sure, after all that bins and tasting, one of the other prices was a free dental cleaning at the dentist.
