If everything goes well on July 12, about three hundred engines will participate in the historic TT parade from Rolde. The parade is held to celebrate the centenary of the TT.
From the Grote Brink in Rolde, the very first TT race is held on 11 July 1925. That race is then about 28.4 kilometers through Borger, Schoonloo and Grolloo, with Rolde also as the end point.
The Oranjevereniging Rolde picks up big because of that historical birthday. The three hundred engines gather under the mill. “In the afternoon the starting signal is given, after which all participants can ride a round on the original process,” the organization said. “In order to get a representative starting field, which reflects the entire history of the TT, there is close cooperation with the historic motorcycle associations in the Netherlands.”
It is about the Historical Motorsport Association, the Riding Motorsport Museum, the Supplementary Motorsport Foundation, the Classic Racing Team and the Veteran Motoren Club. They can all present a certain number of members, after which the organization of the TT parade makes a selection.
People who are not members of those associations can also sign up to a limited extent. The condition is that they have a historic engine. The organization is also in conversation with well -known drivers and collectors of special engines.
Although the TT drove through Rolde and the surrounding area for only one year, the engines come from all years. “Attention is guaranteed to be paid to every decade of TT history.”
During the celebration, the participants gather at the Grote Brink at 10 a.m. who serves as Paddock. People can view everything there. All engines are then inspected, and then start at 2 p.m. The public road is then closed.
The participants drive over six groups, classified on the basis of year of construction. The first group consists of engines between 1925 and 1945. Sidenses get their own category. There are also all kinds of other activities in the center.
