The ski racers started on Saturday at the giant slalom in Åre. After the first run it was also about the slopes and weather conditions.
The giant slalom is always good for a surprise. This was also shown on Saturday in the first run in Åre in Sweden. US World Cup record holder Mikaela Shiffrin started well, but then divided with a mistake.
After the first run, the Italian Federica Brignone is at the front (0: 56.53). Her teammate Sofia Goggia (+0.34) is close behind. The Norwegian Thea Louise Stjernesund is currently third (+0.36). The New Zealander Alice Robinson, who currently leads the giant slalom rating in the World Cup, landed in fifth place after the first run (+0.65).
After her race in the ARD, she said: “I didn’t feel so good. I didn’t drive so well. I have to come up with something else in the second run. It was difficult weather. The slope is in spring conditions and very soft.”
The German ski racer Lena Dürr is tenth after the first run (+1.11). She said in the ARD: “I managed to keep the swing on train quite well. It is already smearing a bit up there, the sun is shining in now.”
Dürr emphasized, however, that the slope was still in good condition and stated: “It was salted yesterday, the night was nice and cold. It was fun. I did not meet that we did not drive from the top. It started from the reserve start, it played in my cards.”
