Beijing has sharply condemned the doubled tariffs of the United States against Chinese products. If the United States wanted to wage a customs war, a trade war or another war, China would go to the end, said foreign office spokesman Lin Jian in Beijing. China rejects the US measures. The countermeasures of the People’s Republic are necessary to protect Chinese rights and interests, said Lin.
According to Lin, pressure, compulsion and threats are not the right way to deal with China. Beijing advised the United States to return to the right path of dialogue and cooperation.
US President Donald Trump had previously ordered by decree to double the import duties decided in February to goods from China. In response, China announced against tariffs to agricultural products and other measures against US companies. A new trade war, as in 2018, is based on Trump’s first presidency between the two largest economies in the world.
