The residents and traders in the Kerkstraat in Kuurne will have to go through Hels noise for three days and then the road will be closed for another two months. A year and a half ago, the street was redesigned in the project of the large center renewal, but concrete slabs bumped into each other when there was traffic. That caused a huge noise nuisance and that is why the municipality has the concrete slabs taken out now.
Francis Benoit, Mayor Kuurne: “Everyone says it is all constructed correctly. There are five yards in Belgium that have this problem, Kuurne is one of them. Everyone says it is force majeure, but ultimately: force majeure is something legal. As a municipality of Kuurne we will look further, but we could not wait any longer. It is a hard note to put the way back, but we have to do it once for the inhabitants. ”
