In the slalom in Slovenian Kranjska Gora, Linus Straßer can no longer be ferred in the fight for the first places: the World Cup third of Saalbach-Hinterglemm resigned in the first run. World champion Loic Meillard (SUI) is in the lead.
Linus Straßer, who won bronze at the World Cup, went into the race with start number one – but he could not specify a guideline for the competition. The Bayer put on a wild ride, but was too aggressive. In the transition to the target slope, he threaded and left out. “I was surprised how quickly it went”said the 32-year-old on ZDF. Straßer remains without a podium even after the tenth World Cup slalom.
World champion Meillard leads
The world champion made the best time in the first run: with 47.77 seconds Loic Meillard mastered the slope and is only a little thin in front of Norwegian Timon Haugan at 0.05 seconds. The Swiss Tanguy Nef (+0.21 seconds) took third place. Vice world champion Atle Lie McGrath (+0.26 seconds) from Norway follows close behind. The 2nd round starts at 12.30 p.m.
No DSV starter in the second run
Like Straßer, Anton Tremmel left in the first round, Marinus Sennhofer missed the jump into the second run as 42. Despite numerous failures (+4.83).
