Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) is going to expand considerably. Construction of a cleanroom building will start in 2026. A year later, the construction of the lab building is expected. There is a substantial price tag: the university is investing a total of around 200 million euros.

There are a lot of plans on the drawing table. For example, the construction of the Cleanroom building will start next year with an area of around 1200 square meters. A cleanroom is a very pure workspace, designed to perform research without the risk of infection. Chip manufacturer ASML pays a lot of things and has no less than 80 million euros for it.

New lab building
In addition, building the lab building will start in 2027. This will be a multifunctional building with 5000 square meters of laboratories, offices and teaching rooms.

Patrick Groothuis, vice -president of the TU/e: “We are proud that we are able to invest in these projects, especially at a time when higher education in the Netherlands has to do with cuts. And we are very grateful for ASML’s contribution to our new cleanroom. “

This year the university starts with the preparation and design. The new buildings must make the University future -proof.
