High flyer Westsite too strong for ladies E&O

HANDBALL – The ladies of E&O lost 19-16 to high flyer Westsite from Amsterdam in the 1st division. As a result, the green shirts remain twelfth in the standings with 10 points.

However, E&O did not just let itself be outplayed by the number four in the ranking of the 1st division. After first trailing 8-5, the
Emmenaren tied the score again at halftime to 10-10. Youngster Lynn Wolters managed to hit it twice in a row. In the second half, Westsite again took a 14-10 lead, but after a time-out from coach Jan Gerald Mulder, E&O came back to 15-13.

Counters stopped

Goalkeeper Amber Foree played a creditable game and managed to keep several attempts by Westsite out of her goal. Little was scored in Amsterdam. After a hit by Alysa Korterink just before time, E&O still had every chance of a point at 18-16, but a quick counter was stopped twice.

When build-up player Marit Nieuwenweg was sent off in the final minute, Westsite was able to take control with a surplus situation and also throw in the 19-16.

Next week, E&O will again face a tough task, when the team will play against leader VOC Amsterdam at home.
