Eindhoven wants to receive asylum seekers, status holders and people who are urgently looking for a home under one roof. This in the former tax office on Karel de Grotelaan in the city. In the tower there must soon be room for three hundred asylum seekers and status holders and around one hundred emergency seekers, for example students or parents who are in divorce.

The plan is a collaboration between the municipality of Eindhoven, housing association Trudo and the Central Agency for the Reception of Asylum Seekers (COA) and is in any case unique for Eindhoven standards.

For thirty years
Through the combination of care and social (short) rent, the three parties want to promote integration and living together from day one. If not all three hundred places are needed for the reception of asylum seekers, more social rental homes could also be released.

Wooncorporation Trudo becomes the owner of the building. The COA will rent a large part of the building for a period of thirty years. The refugee body ensures the reception and supervision of asylum seekers and status holders.

Renovation
Emergency seekers are going to rent a room through Trudo. It concerns sixty social apartments, for a total of about a hundred people.

The new residents cannot go there immediately. The former tax office must first be renovated. The first inhabitants are expected to live in the building in the second half of 2027. But for that, the council must first agree to the plans in April.
