Due to an insufficient security concept, the third division game classified as a risk game has been canceled between the SpVgg Unterhaching and FC Hansa Rostock. The municipality was closed to the Unterhaching sports park, so that the encounter could not take place as planned next Sunday, the German Football Association said.

Accordingly, the Bavarian Association missed the deadline set by the municipality to revise the security concept. According to the current assessment,

The reason for this should be the massive fan riots in the game between Rostock and Dynamo Dresden last Saturday. According to the police, a total of 51 people were injured. According to information from the “Ostsee-Zeitung”, there were intensive discussions between the organizer, the host association and the security authorities this week. “The security situation has been re -evaluated,” a police spokesman told the paper.

Update 7:46 p.m.: The Hansa CEO Jürgen Wehlend emphasized, however, to the newspaper that the impression should not arise, the decision is related to the events against Dynamo. The problem is a lack of an operating license for the Uhlsportpark. There are reports on security deficiencies both in the arena and in the stadium environment.

DFB checks possible consequences after the game cancellation

The DFB was surprised by the stadium closure. A relocation to a neutral place was not feasible at short notice. “The association will now intensively examine the processes that have led to the surprising blocking of the sports park and possible consequences,” says the DFB announcement. A new appointment for the game has not yet been determined.
