For the very first time in the current season, Joshua Kimmich had to be replaced last Sunday. In the smooth 4-0 home win of FC Bayern in the Bundesliga top game against Eintracht Frankfurt, the national team captain still felt pain in the thigh in the first half. He had to get off the field, for him team -mate Leon Goretzka came. On Monday, FC Bayern now reported important details about the Kimmich injury.

As the German record champion announced on his club’s homepage, Joshua Kimmich has already undergone an in -depth study of the medical department. Fortunately, no structural violation of the rear thigh muscles, but only a tendon irritation was found.

According to FC Bayern, the 30-year-old has to “step down” for the time being, but Kimmich is not at risk of a longer downtime. Most recently, it was feared that the leading player and long-running favorite of the Münchner could miss the next Bundesliga game against VfB Stuttgart on Friday evening (from 8:30 p.m.) as well as the first leg in the Champions League round of 16 against Bayer Leverkusen (March 5, from 9:00 p.m.).

After the incoming MRI examination, the Bayern doctors were now able to give the all-clear. According to “Bild”, even an operation against VfB is not yet excluded in four days.

Kimmich still hopes for starting eleven against VfB

According to the “Everything” newspaper, Kimmich is currently doing this in order to be able to stand again in the FCB starting eleven against his training association.

To date, Kimmich has been the only Bayern professional to play all 36 competitive games for the team of head coach Vincent Kompany in the current season. Before the Frankfurt game on Sunday evening, he had not been replaced prematurely for almost ten months in the FC Bayern jersey.
