People who take war refugees from Ukraine into their homes can count on help from farmers and horticulturists from Brabant. They serve their own products and have them delivered to host families. These will be distributed in food packages from 1 April. “We want to give the refugees a warm welcome,” said the ZLTO.
That organization came up with the idea for the farmer packages. The humanitarian disaster is closer than you think, says a spokesperson for this interest group.
He does not think it is at all surprising that his supporters want to stand up for the many displaced persons: “Our people have a big farmer’s heart and we feel obliged to our stand. this action to initiate. And to bundle any other ideas. We want to give the refugees a warm welcome with farmer’s packages full of local food. It also thanks the host families who take those people into their homes.”
“Of course money is needed for this,” says the spokesperson. Money to collect, pack and ship the packages. This will be done by meal box company Boerschappen in Breda. The special boxes will consist of dairy, meat, vegetable and fruit products, eggs, potatoes and flowers.
Suppliers of feed, crop protection products and seeds, as well as farmers’ customers are asked to donate. For every 1000 euros collected with the promotion, 75 packages can be composed and delivered. The first more than 20 thousand has already been received. In this initiative, the ZLTO works together with sister associations in Limburg and the north of our country. “Every company can help,” says the spokesperson for the Brabant interest group.
