Four entrances from the last Songfestival region in Maastricht are joining forces and organize their own ‘rock in the region’ performance. An evening full of music, completely in dialect.

On the evening are performances by the Marianne Veenstra, the Groningen staircase!, The Frisian band Fegebart and the men of Kopsmart, who were on behalf of Omroep West in Maastricht.

The artists did not know each other in advance, but grew towards each other during the event. “Something simply arose behind the scenes there,” says Trap! Guitarist Erwin Jongsma RTV Noord. “You felt it clicked. At a certain point we were only making music with these four submissions in our dressing room. Then I immediately had something like: it’s a shame if it stays with it.” He therefore introduced everyone to organize an event.

“Yes, we were immediately enthusiastic,” adds Trap! Singer René Siertsema. “Marianne and the men from Friesland too, with West it was a bit more difficult. We tried to get in touch with them, but that didn’t work. They are also a bit older of course, isn’t it,” he says with a wink.

Until Siertsema and Jongsma came across one of the band members of West during Eurosonic Noorderslag: “Then we told about the plan and he was also completely enthusiastic.”

On Saturday 29 March, Rodenburg station in Leek will be the backdrop for the first ‘Rock in the region’ performance. If it is up to the artists, it will not stop there. Siertsema: “It would be nice if we rotating a bit. Now with us, next time in Drenthe, then once in Friesland and of course also in Scheveningen,” he concludes.
