Before the Biathlon World Cup, two silver medals would have believed that the fewest Campbell Wright would have believed. But the American starts-and receives recognition.

When Campbell Wright crossed the finish line at the biathlon World Cup in Lenzerheide on Sunday, he only leaned forward incredulously, then he took his arms up, cheered and screamed out. The American arrived at the finish line of eight seconds to the Norwegian World Cup record holder Johannes Thingnes Bö in the pursuit and surprisingly secured the silver medal as in the sprint. Because: Nobody had expected the 22-year-old before the World Cup.

Afterwards there was a lot of praise-especially of the Norwegians dominating in the Biathlon World Cup. Endre Strömsheim, which became a eighth in the persecution, told the Norwegian public service broadcast NRK about Wright: “It is the World Cup surprise of this year and extremely impressive.” Sturla Holm Laegreid, fourth and overall World Cup leaders added: “He is a cool guy, just a cool guy.”

For record world champion Bö, who overtaken titles in Lenzerheide Ole Einar Björndalen, it was unexpectedly exciting at the final round. Campbell Wright made life difficult for him, which Bö later commented on a wink. He told the International Biathlon Union (IBU): “There is this young guy. I gave everything, but suddenly he was there. I couldn’t. I only longed for the goal.”

Campbell Wright said NRK about his second sensational success: “It was fantastic to go skiing well and shoot well. Yes, I’m a happy boy.” Even after the sprint silver, his phone was not quiet. News from home reached him in large numbers. “I tried to leave the phone off. I only slept five hours. I was pretty excited yesterday, but a lot of news came from home. To answer it to answer them,” said the double vice world champion.
