SortEptember 5 – The direct that changed the story
Type: mass-mediological reflection
Director: Tim Fehlbaum. With Peter Sarsgaard, John Magaro, Ben Chaplin, Leonie Benetsch, Corey Johnson, Marcus Rutherford, Gary Slaughter
The day of September 5, 1972, in Munich, was announced without particular problems for the Olympic games And the envoys of the American television network ABC, who for the first time in history broadcast the races live, were preparing on their eleventh day of work, when they began to feel a series of shots inside the Olympic village: Eight Palestinian terrorists of the Black September organization had seized nine members of the Israeli team (After killing two) asking for the liberation of 234 Fedayyin in exchange in Israel.
The team of the American network ABC in “September 5”
In 2005 Steven Spielberg, with Munich, He had told the revenge of the Israeli government against the managers of that massacre. Tim Fehlbaum tells that day all on the side of the ABC, the only one who could broadcast what was happening live.
And so the film becomes a nice reflection on journalistic pride, but also on the responsibility for informationon the role of witnesses and the risks of the profession (the terrorists were informed by the services of the ABC of what was happening) and more generally on the power of the TV.
For those who want to reflect on what it means to information.
