Biathlete Ingrid Landmark Teldrevold published a hate message on the net. It also annoys two German ex-biathletes.
Norway’s mixed relay failed to start the Biathlon World Cup. In Lenzerheide (Switzerland), the top favorites only finished fourth. The four -time Olympic champion Ingrid Landmark Tindrevold felt the frustration of the fans on Instagram. She published a hate message that she received. Among other things, it was read there: “I wish you all bad in the world.”
The German Olympic champion Arnd Peiffer has no understanding for this. “I was really sorry for Ingrid, she was already doing enough this season,” he said in his podcast “The Biathlon Double Room” with Erik Lesser.
Peiffer made it clear how frightening he feels the increasing hate comments. “That is something that affects me,” said the 37-year-old. He is particularly shocking that it is now considered “normal” to accept insults in public.
The developments at the Meta group, which includes Facebook and Instagram, would also have their share. “Content control and fact check will not be better, but worse in the name of freedom of expression,” said Peiffer, who clarified: “But that has nothing to do with freedom of expression, to insult someone. I could get upset again.”
Erik Lesser made it clear: “Such insults have nothing to do with freedom of expression.”
