Current pop, which is rarely evading the dictatorship of the Bumm-Paff.
At some point the Bumm-Paff-Beat is annoying. Nothing against monotony, but if she goes to the twelve so much, even the charm of Andreas Dorau is tapped softly. It doesn’t matter that Vienna has a pretty concept: the Hamburg musician wants to put a monument to the Austrian capital and deliberately takes on a distant view of things.
This results in easily decodable songs such as “Tourist” or “Rain in Vienna”, but also plenty of pieces, whose reference to Vienna would remain puzzling if this puzzling would not be tugged from the great musical implementation. So it becomes the most beautiful when, as in “built -up house”, the ODE is rather dripping on the architecture of a nasty apartment building or the “Wolfgang von Kempelen speech machine” is explained and all pop conventions are simply ignored.
In “Girl with Heart”, the now 61-year-old Dorau even revives his youthful Marinas self, but the highlight is “let us go for a walk”, a cooperation with Stefanie Schrank: two sloping geniuses, the respective bulkyness does not complement itself In each other.
