Former top hockey player and current coach Miika Elomo47, is dead. The Elomo Society Cergny-Pontoise was announced on Instagram.
– With great sadness and shock, we just heard our head coach today Miika Elomo From the departure, says Cergny-Pontoise.
– All our thoughts are with his wife, his family and loved ones.
Elomo was found dead at his home outside Paris. The man coached his second time in the French Main Series.
Elomo is a former top player who represented TPS, HIFK and Blues in the SM League. He won Finnish Championship gold at HIFK in 1998 and at TPS in 1999. There were a total of 230 league games and 55 points (26+29).
Elomo was booked in the NHL in the first round in 1995. The Washington Capitals shouted for the winger for himself at number 23. Elomo played two games in the NHL and 216 matches in the AHL regular season. He won the Farm Series Championship in 2001.
After his career as a player, Elomo moved on to coaching. In Finland, Elomo is remembered as a coach for TPS (2012-2015) and TUTO (2015-2019).
Before France-Pest, Elomo coached one season in Norway and one season in Poland. In addition, for a couple of seasons, he served on the coaching team of the Finnish under-20 national team.
