Rihanna is now also starting with her voice in the film: The singer and entrepreneur takes on the role of Schlumpfine in a new “The Smurf” film. During the Cinemacon 2024, Rihanna surprised the audience not only with the unveiling of her participation in the animation project, but also with a musical performance as the legendary blue figure.
“I actually wanted to play Papa Schlump, but that didn’t work,” joked the singer as early as 2023 when her participation in the film became known.
The upcoming adventure of the smurfs is created under the direction of Chris Miller, who has already gained relevant experience with animated films such as “Shrek the Third”. The Paramount Animation project is produced in cooperation with Nickelodeon Movies. In addition to her voice role, Rihanna will also work as a producer of the film and contribute new music for soundtrack. This message ensures joy with her fans, but also a little melancholy, because it is the singer’s first musical project since her appearance at the Super Bowl 2023 – but you will probably have to wait for a new album.
