UEFA initiates proceedings against PSG

The anger attack by club boss Nasser Al-Khelaifi and sporting director Leonardo after Paris Saint-Germain’s Champions League exit is now a case for UEFA prosecutors.

A spokesman for the European Football Union confirmed that disciplinary proceedings had been initiated against the two top officials and the French champions. UEFA had previously examined referee Danny Makkelie’s report on what happened after PSG’s 3-1 draw at Real Madrid in the round of 16 second leg.

According to reports from Spanish and French media, Qatari club president Al-Khelaifi and Brazilian PSG sporting director Leonardo tried to get into the referee’s cabin.

There is conflicting and so far unconfirmed information about the exact course of events. There were also reports that Al-Khelaifi and Leonardo were in the dressing room.

PSG: Those responsible see foul on Donnarumma

According to the UEFA legal system, insults or other violations of the rules of conduct can be punished with fines or even suspensions. The displeasure of the PSG officials is said to have ignited at the equalizer because they saw a foul on the Italian PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma there.

Real captain Karim Benzema then scored the other two goals and brought the hosts into the quarter-finals.
