We have been accompanying Rick Grimes and his friends and opponents through the zombie apocalypse for eight seasons. How well have individual characters been adapted from the template – and how do those that do not exist in the comic do they do?

11. Dale Horvath (Jeffrey Demunn)

06. Glenn Rhee (Steven Yeun)

05. Maggie Rhee (Lauren Cohan)

04. The Governor (David Morrissey)
The most complete antagonist to this day and next to Shane the only figure that is even better in the series than in the comic. An almost brilliant idea of not creating the “governor” as in the book as a screaming Che Guevara cut, but as a good-looking, American-looking dad (actor Morrissey, like so many TWD actors, actually from England). This guy even looks like a hobbyist in the hobby workshop when he totally freaked out.
While the villain, which is even more popular with fans, also bobs through life in Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s interpretation like a cartoon figure, this is a character with real breaks-despite his official title, not democratically chosen. With a lost daughter and a lover that he feels cheated by. The fact that he is a “Philip” and not a “Brian” in the series makes him almost more likeable. Even if he makes it clear to his Andrea that he actually does not want to be addressed with the first names.

03. Shane Walsh (John Bernthal)
Team Rick or Team Shane? That was a fan question that the “Walking Dead” supporters divided into almost two camps during the first two seasons. Rick was the upright one who gets his wife back. Shane the disappointed lover. The other thing that is right, with knowledge of the story development, is rightly granted.
This cop always wanted to do the right thing, promise simple decisions. Tempo instead of hinge. A figure like Shane, a real anti-hero, is painfully missing in today’s TDW universe. There is only black and white, good and evil. He was the fireball, he threatened the humanist Dale, unfortunately there was never a fight against Daryl.
How do you feel about Shane? Was it okay that he killed a slow companion so that a child gets his medication in time? He was the only group member who just dared within to murder the group, which led to difficult moral questions. The series makers had recognized his potential and granted him a longer life than in the comics. In the end, Rick uses his only last chance against him.

02. Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln)
The “Walking Dead” main character, like Daryl, is a victim of the increasingly worse scripts, victims of crazy jumps in motivation and not imitating character developments. The story forms both at will and action scene. Maybe that’s why actor Lincoln speaks regularly after every Midseason start. He postulates that Rick will “do nothing” or Rick “will return to the old form after surviving defeat” – actually a bad sign if someone has to constantly explain the psyche of his figure.

01. Michonne (Danai Jekesai Gurira)

Michonne rightly counts in the comics as the figure whose death – perhaps before the Ricks – would be most regretted. Michonne dies? Can’t, won’t!
