As a global citizen of the 21st century, we are on the permanent search for individual fulfillment and the lost happiness. So why do we like to crumble on the sofa and choose films that make us cry? A study by Ohio State University provides an explanation of the phenomenon: We are so fascinated by sad films because the tragic circumstances of the characters in the film encourage us to think. We become aware of the positive sides of our own existence. After the sad experience of filming, we feel a short -term high of gratitude.

The notebook (like a single day)
Allie Hamilton and Noah Calhoun also have the strict conventions of their time to fight the 1940s. The wealthy Allie spends her summer in Seabrook, North Carolina. There she gets to know Noah from poor conditions. The two fall in love and spend a summer together. Allie’s parents, however, do not believe in their relationship with the country boy and after a short time prevent any contact. After Allie’s departure from Seabrook, Noah writes his beloved countless love letters – but even that begins allie’s mother. Time moves into the country and life continues; Noah moves to World War II while Allie gets engaged to a respected lawyer. Then one day one day discovered a picture of Noah in the newspaper.
