The German ski jumpers experienced a debacle at the home World Cup in Willingen. In the victory of the Austrian Daniel Tschofenig, Felix Hoffmann, as the 15th, still provided the best result.

A good three weeks before the World Cup, it was by far the worst seasonal result for the glossy DSV eagles.

“At the moment it is a bit tough, we actually lost today,” said national coach Stefan Horngacher in the ARD: “Our goal was to shorten the distance a bit. We absolutely not succeeded.”

In addition to Hoffmann before 23,500, only Andreas Wellinger (17th) and the five -time winner Pius Paschke (27th) made it into the second round. Karl Geiger, most recently one of the few bright spots, was as weak as never this winter. For the tenth time in a row, the DSV eagles remained in a single competition without a podium-and that was extremely clear.

It was not to be beaten by four-hill touring winner Tschofenig, who won his sixth victory of the winter with jumps to 135.5 and 142.0 m. Anze Lanisek (Slovenia) and Maximilian Ortner (Austria) also made it to the podium.

The competition was also disappointing for ex-world champion Markus Eisenbichler (48th) and local hero Stephan Leyhe (38th), who returned to the World Cup via the national group. For the two veterans, the last hopes for participating in the World Cup are also disappearing.
