After the collision of an aircraft and a helicopter in Washington, dozens of bodies are recovered, many other people missed. There are also well -known athletes among them.

At an airplane accident near the US capital airport in Washington, a passenger machine with 64 people on board collided with a US military helicopter in the air and fell into the Potomac River.

According to the US ice skating association, there were also several athletes and trainers among the passengers who were on the way back from a training camp. “We are destroyed because of this unspeakable tragedy. All those affected are deep in our hearts,” the broadcaster ABC quoted from a statement from the association.

According to the Russian news agency Tass, the former Russian figure skating world champions Jewgenija Schischkowa and Wadim Naumow were also on board the machine. The married couple won World Cup gold in 1994 and moved to the USA after his career end. There both started as a trainer. Her son Maxim is part of the US ice skating team and is reportedly on board the crashed plane.

More than 300 emergency services are on site, said fire chief John Donnelly at Reagan National Airport Airport. The operating conditions are “extremely hard”. The darkness, strong wind, cold and the cloudy water of the river disabled the search for the fire brigade divers.

According to the army, the helicopter was on a nightly training flight when it came to the collision.
