Glenn Martens is the new creative director of Maison Margiela.
Margiela confirmed to the specialist magazine Women’s Wear Daily on Wednesday that the Belgian designer would “write the next chapter of the house and build on his unique codes and brand values”.
He succeeds John Galliano, who ended a ten -year cooperation with Maison Margiela in December. It has not yet been divided into when Martens will show his first collection for the brand.
Margiela is also creative director of the Denimbrand Diesel, which, like Maison Margiela, belongs to the Italian fashion group OTB Group. It is assumed that Martens will continue to be the creative rudder at Diesel, reports WWD.
“I worked with Glenn for years, I saw his talent and know what he is capable of,” commented the chairman of the OTB Group Renzo Rosso.
