Intersport Deutschland eG was once again able to crack the three billion euros mark in the 2023/2024 financial year, but was slightly behind the previous year with the turnover.
At the end of September, the dealer network, based in Heilbronn, generated sales of 3.46 billion euros, said Intersport on Tuesday. In the previous year it was 3.5 billion euros. The sales driver was the team sport category, which also achieved an increase of 13 percent through the European Football Championship in Germany.
Despite the decline and difficult market conditions, the company is positive: “We are satisfied with the 2023/2024 financial year, because in view of the headwind with recession and inflation, we have developed better than the market,” said Intersport-Finanz chief Thomas Storck. “We are particularly pleased about the positive development of our online business: Here we have again developed much more than the online market.”
The grouping group therefore also relies on the future. After investing over 15 million euros for conversions, modernizations and expansions of the Intersport dealers: Inside, one also expects around 10 million euros for the current 2024/25 financial year.
This also includes driving the expansion strategy launched in 2022, which is intended to add more than 100 other locations to the number of network of over 400 areas of Intersport dealers: inside until 2030.
Intersport Germany wants to grow more profitably than the market and reach annual growth of over five percent by 2030, according to Heilbronn.
Intersport launches Superstore concept
Intersport Germany has also presented a new store concept that is aimed at demand in the price entry and medium-sized price segment. The so -called super stores should “offer everything that families and price -sensitive customers need for their sport on a sales area of 2,000 to 5,000 square meters,” said Alexander von Preen, CEO at Intersport Germany. There, INTERSPORT brands and products from the industrial partners are to be offered in the categories urban, outdoor, winter, team sport, bath/beach and seasonal sports.
