FC Den Bosch is considering giving supporters, who graduated in the De Vliert stadium last Monday evening, a stadium ban. The club announced this on Tuesday. In the match against Jong FC Utrecht, the torches were set by a number of fans to honor a deceased friend. “The fireworks racks have been identified and will have to bear the consequences of their action individually,” the club writes.
A banner with a text about the deceased Theo was shown during the torches. “These competition visitors were not season ticket holders of FC Den Bosch, but football enthusiasts who had bought a separate ticket. With the ignite of the torches they wanted to honor their deceased football friend. Despite these good intentions, the exploitation of fireworks is prohibited and unsafe at all times” , the club writes on the website.
Local or rural stadium ban
“The negative consequences of such actions can be great for FC Den Bosch and its fixed core supporters, resulting in fines and collective penalties.” FC Den Bosch can decide to impose a local stadium ban or report the incident to the KNVB for a possible national ban.
The club does not want to anticipate things and waits to impose measures after there have been conversations.
FC Den Bosch already played against Young FC Utrecht with a partly empty M-Side through an earlier punishment from the KNVB. By imposing sanctions against its own supporters, the club hopes that a further punishment from the football association will not be taken.
